Woods Cross High School Theatre will bring a Harry Potter-inspired comedy to the stage in November, with six performances and tickets starting at $5.

The school's fall production is "Puffs: Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic," a play by Matt Cox. According to the school's announcement, the show follows a group of well-meaning but unremarkable students who happen to attend the same wizard school as a famous boy hero.

The school describes the play as a tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

Cox wrote the play in 2015. It ran Off-Broadway at New World Stages in New York starting in 2016 and earned a nomination for the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience in 2017. In a Playbill interview that year, Cox said the team wanted the show to have "really true heart to it" so it would carry genuine emotional weight beyond a simple spoof.

The production is not authorized or endorsed by J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. or anyone associated with the Harry Potter franchise, according to the school's listing.
