Viewmont High School juniors in Bountiful will take a paper-based practice ACT on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with testing starting at 7:30 a.m.

The school posted a notice on its website telling juniors to bring a valid ID, two No. 2 pencils and an ACT-approved calculator. The school warned students not to arrive late.

Sophomores and seniors will not have classes that day. Buses will run on their regular schedules.

Calculators with built-in computer algebra system functionality are banned under the ACT's calculator policy. That includes all TI-89 and TI-92 models, the TI-Nspire CAS, the HP Prime, the HP 48GII and all HP 40G, 49G and 50G models. Students must bring their own permitted calculator. Testing staff will not provide one.

Teachers will be available starting at 1 p.m. for consultations open to students of any grade.
