The Bountiful Davis Art Center (BDAC) is accepting entries for its annual gingerbread house competition, with drop-off set for Nov. 27–28.
Each entry costs $6.
Participants can bring their creations between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on either day, according to the center's competition guidelines. Four categories are open: Kids (12 and under), Youth (13–17), Adult (18 and older) and Adult Group/Business. Builders can use homemade gingerbread or a store-bought kit, though homemade gingerbread will receive greater consideration from judges.
What the judges want
Davis County city and county officials will evaluate entries on creativity, design and craftsmanship. First-, second- and third-place winners in each category receive small, noncash prizes. Winners will be announced Dec. 4.
All construction materials and decorations must be edible, with two exceptions: a sturdy display base and optional battery-operated lights. Entries must arrive fully assembled and secured to their base. Kids and youth entries should reflect the entrant's own creative work.
At drop-off, participants fill out an entry form and choose whether to donate their creation to a silent auction.
Family Day and silent auction
BDAC will host a Family Day and silent auction on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry fees and auction bids support the center's 2027 educational programming, according to the guidelines.
Houses not donated to the auction or receiving no bids must be picked up by Saturday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m.
BDAC's 2025–2028 strategic plan, signed by Executive Director Sarina Villareal Ehrgott, describes the Gingerbread Festival as a tradition that invites families, artists and neighbors to create and display gingerbread houses together. The center is located on Main Street in Bountiful.
