Incoming sophomores at Viewmont High School have less than three weeks to find their way around campus before the first bell rings. Sophomore Orientation runs Monday, August 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving the Class of 2029 a walkthrough three days before school starts Thursday, August 20, at 7:30 a.m.
But orientation is just one item on a checklist Viewmont posted Wednesday, July 29, on the school's website. Here's what north-side Bountiful families need to handle before and after that first day.
Parking passes go on sale August 3. Students who want to drive must fill out the online form starting that Monday. Spots are not guaranteed, and the school has not announced a cap or price.
Fees, waivers, and lunch applications open August 1. Families log into myDSD to pay optional fees, apply for a fee waiver, or submit the Free & Reduced Lunch application, which becomes available Saturday, August 1. Required policy documents also need a signature under the portal's Tools menu.
Families whose contact information has changed should call the Counseling Office directly rather than updating through myDSD.
Device protection plan: enroll by September 4. The Davis School Board approved Student Electronic Device Policy 5S-105 on June 2 in a 5–1 vote, with board member Kristen Hogan dissenting. Viewmont's optional device protection plan operates under that policy. Families who want coverage have roughly two weeks after school starts to enroll. The specific dollar amount of the plan has not been published in the school's announcement.
The board approved the full 2026–27 fee schedule unanimously on May 5.
Other dates to mark:
- School pictures: Monday, August 24, and Tuesday, August 25, during English classes (makeup day September 23)
- Yearbooks: $52 through November 1, then $57
- Lockers: available at no cost through the Main Office
The first two days of school will run a modified bell schedule for Viking Academy, Viewmont's advisory period.
As we reported July 29, Davis School District's August 20 start date applies district-wide, but each school sets its own orientation and fee calendar. Viewmont, at 120 W. 1400 North in Bountiful, serves the city's northern residential communities and is one of the larger high schools in Davis County.
Families needing fee-waiver help or enrollment updates can reach the Viewmont Counseling Office at the main campus number listed on vhs.davis.k12.ut.us.
