Residents have until Nov. 20 to donate winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and new socks and underwear at drop-off sites across Utah as part of the 14th annual Warm Bodies, Warm Souls clothing drive.
Bountiful Community Pantry is one of 15 nonprofits statewide that will receive the collected items, according to the Davis Journal. The drive, hosted by Bank of Utah, Arctic Circle and Red Hanger Cleaners, began Oct. 19 and accepts gently used items that are clean and in good condition at participating Bank of Utah branches, Arctic Circle restaurants and Red Hanger locations.
The drive has run every year since 2011. Last year, donors gave 561 bags of warm clothing and $10,040 in cash across 73 collection sites statewide, according to a press release cited by ABC4.
Jodi Lunt, chief development officer at Switchpoint, said the effort makes a direct difference. "Every coat, blanket, hat or pair of gloves donated through Warm Bodies, Warm Souls helps our most vulnerable neighbors stay warm and comfortable through the winter," Lunt said, according to the press release.
Switchpoint focuses on eliminating homelessness in Utah.
Beyond Bountiful Community Pantry, this year's beneficiary list includes Lantern House in Ogden, Crossroads Urban Center in Salt Lake City, Switchpoint, The Well, Cache Valley Humanitarian Center, Cache Community Food Pantry, Tremonton Community Pantry, The Family Support Center in Brigham City and Ogden, Catholic Community Services in Ogden, The Road Home's Men's Resource Center, Heber Valley Center Stage, Christian Center of Park City, Community Action Services and Food Bank, Food and Care Coalition, United Way of Eastern Utah and Tabitha's Way.
Each donor receives a coupon for a free double cheeseburger from Arctic Circle or a free shirt cleaning from Red Hanger.
Residents can find the nearest drop-off location through an interactive map on Bank of Utah's clothing drive page. The drive closes Friday, Nov. 20.
