Two Utah Book Award-honored authors will appear at Headquarters Library in Farmington on Wednesday, Sept. 2, for a free evening of conversation about writing and books.

A.M. Luzzader and Frank Cole will discuss their work, their inspiration and upcoming titles at the event, which runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the library, 133 S. Main St., according to the Davis County Library's event calendar. Books will be available for purchase and signing. All ages are welcome.

Both authors were recognized in the 2025 Utah Book Awards' Young Adult/Middle Grade category, a program run by Utah Humanities and the League of Utah Writers honoring outstanding work by Utah authors. Cole's novel "The Legend of the Last Library" was named a finalist. Luzzader's "Baxter Bean and the Misachievers" received a Notable Read designation. The category winner that year was "Iceberg" by Jennifer A. Nielsen.

The Davis County Library announced the event on X, calling both authors "Utah Book Award nominated." The library's event listing describes the evening as a chance to hear from both writers about their creative process and what's next for their work.

The 2026 Utah Book Awards finalists are scheduled to be announced Sept. 1, one day before the Farmington event. Winners will be named Oct. 3 at a ceremony at the Salt Lake City Library Downtown.
