South Davis Metro Fire's board of trustees is set to consider an EMS contract award and three staff vehicle purchases when it meets Monday, Oct. 19, at Station 81 in Bountiful.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at 255 South 100 West.
The Oct. 19 agenda lists 11 items, led by Fire Chief Jeff Larsen. The biggest action items: awarding the EMS Licensure Request for Proposal (RFP), approving the purchase of three staff vehicles and updating the district's bylaws.
The EMS licensure decision has been building. The RFP appeared on the board's Sept. 21 agenda. On Monday, Larsen is set to give a presentation on the licensure and then ask the board to award the contract.
Commissioner Ryan Westergard will lead discussion on proposed bylaw changes, with possible board action.
Larsen will also formally introduce Deputy Chief Nick Dodge to the board. Dodge previously served as a battalion chief with the West Valley City Fire Department, according to a farewell post from that department. He and Deputy Chief Josh Hardy were sworn in earlier in October, according to the South Davis Metro Firefighters union's Instagram account.
Larsen, a Bountiful High School graduate with 30 years in fire service, was ratified as chief by the board on May 18, according to the Davis Journal. He took over after the passing of former Chief Greg Stewart.
"To think I started out as a part-time firefighter at the age of 20 and here I am now as the Fire Chief," Larsen said in a May interview with the Davis Journal.
Routine items on Monday's agenda include approval of September meeting minutes, September disbursements and September financials. Larsen will also deliver an operations report and a fire chief report. The agenda notes a possible closed session to discuss real property, pending litigation or personnel matters under Utah Code §52-4-205.
Residents needing accommodations to attend can call 801-677-2400 at least 48 hours before the meeting.
