North Salt Lake gained a new library Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Davis County Library opened its Sprout mini-branch at 460 N. Redwood Road, Suite D.

The grand opening celebration runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with crafts, stories and a free tote bag for the first 200 families, according to the library's event calendar.

What the Sprout Library offers

The library describes the Sprout as smaller than a branch and a bit smaller than a twig. Despite its size, the location offers browsing collections for all ages, hold pickup, storytimes, 3D printing, study space and in-branch laptop checkout.

The Davis County Library Board approved a two-year commercial lease for the space in June 2026 at a cost of $64,944, according to board meeting minutes. The lease runs through May 31, 2028.

Bountiful Branch renovation drives expansion

The Sprout adds a second temporary service point while the Bountiful Branch undergoes a major renovation. That branch closed Jan. 26 for a minimum of 18 months of work, including system upgrades, improved accessibility and a refreshed interior, according to a Davis County newsletter.

A temporary location dubbed The Twig at 85 N. Main St. in Bountiful remains open.

As of late September, the Bountiful Branch renovation had paused after demolition and remediation work, but permits were in hand and subcontractors were ready to proceed, Bountiful Buzz reported.
