The Davis County Sheriff's Office will host a free Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Justice Complex in Farmington.

The annual Halloween event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Annex Building, 800 W. State St., according to the Davis County events calendar. A sensory-friendly hour begins at 5:15 p.m. for families who want a quieter setting before the main event begins at 6.

The sensory-friendly window is designed for children and adults who may be overwhelmed by crowds, loud music or flashing lights, giving them a chance to collect candy and see the decorations at a gentler pace.

This year's event adds a twist. Sheriff's Office departments are competing head-to-head to build the best-decorated table, and attendees get to pick the winner, the office said in an Instagram post announcing the event. A costume contest runs from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Admission is free.

The Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Kelly Sparks, also hosted a free Junior Deputy Day Camp for kids ages 9 to 12 in July at the same State Street location, according to the Davis County Connector newsletter. The Trunk or Treat itself dates back at least to 2022, when Davis County Health promoted that year's edition on social media.

ABC4's statewide Halloween guide lists the Farmington event alongside dozens of other Utah celebrations, noting costume and decorating competitions and candy for all ages.
