The Davis County Commission will vote Tuesday, Sept. 1, on a contract to host a Warhammer 40K competition at the Western Sports Park in Farmington.
The Challengers Cup 2026, billed as "America's Largest 8-Person Teams Event" for the tabletop war game, is scheduled for Sept. 11–13 at the county-owned sports campus. The contract with organizer Green Banner Event Co. is listed at $21,857.81 on the Utah Public Notice for the meeting. It replaces a prior contract, indicating the event has been held at the venue before.
Kent Andersen, director of community and economic development for the Western Sports Park, recommended the agreement.
The Warhammer competition contract is one of 17 items on the commission's agenda. Other highlights:
Homeland security grant. Commissioners will consider a $34,950 State Homeland Security Grant Program award from the Utah Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The grant period runs from Sept. 1, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2028. Chief Deputy Sheriff Arnold Butcher recommended the item.
SCRAM alcohol monitoring. The agenda includes a batch of agreements for the county's Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) program, which uses ankle bracelets to track court-ordered sobriety compliance. The agreements cover July 2026 cases handled by the Davis County Sheriff's Office. Dollar amounts were not listed on the agenda.
More Western Sports Park bookings. The consent agenda carries vendor agreements for MetaSports FC fall league play ($9,514.49), Flame Throwers basketball training ($3,097.50) and two additional low-dollar facility agreements totaling $18,924.
Other items. The commission will consider an $18,834 training reimbursement for corrections officer Jeremy Zane Bingham and a $13,390.88 background-check software subscription. The agenda also lists a use agreement with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources for a hunter education program at the Davis Shooting Range and an internship safety agreement between Davis School District and Davis County Animal Services.
The consent agenda also includes revisions to three county policies covering cell phones, alcohol purchases and vehicle use.
Commissioners will also vote on canceling the Sept. 8 regular meeting. No replacement date appears on the agenda.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Davis County Administration Building, 61 S. Main St., Suite 303, in Farmington. Commission Chair Bob J. Stevenson, Vice Chair Lorene Kamalu and Commissioner John V. Crofts make up the three-member board.
