The 4th Annual West Bountiful Car Show rolls into West Bountiful City Park on Saturday, Aug. 1, anchoring a week loaded with free concerts, a farmers market, and outdoor activities across south Davis County.

The show runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 550 W. 1600 North and doubles as a 501(c)(3) fundraiser for Alzheimer's and dementia research, organized by the Hughes Foundation. Bryan McCurdy, vice president of marketing and business development at Hughes General Contractors, told the Davis Journal on July 24 that the Hughes family started the foundation after their father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

"There was no place for them to go for answers," McCurdy said.

The show expects close to 250 entries, including cars, tractors, boats, and semis. Admission is free for spectators. Food trucks and vendors will donate their proceeds back to the foundation, and raffle prizes include a trip to Hawaii and a Razor off-road vehicle.

Farmers market and concerts

The Bountiful Farmers Market returns Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bountiful Town Square, 75 E. 200 S. The weekly market, which runs through Oct. 15, features local farmers, food artisans, bakers, and artists, according to Discover Davis.

Bountiful's free Music in the Park concert series plays Friday, July 31, at 7 p.m. at Bountiful City Park, 400 N. 200 West. The Bountiful Davis Art Center also hosts a free concert Wednesday, July 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Outdoor activities and heat safety

A community hike is listed for Friday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at Mueller Park Canyon Trailhead in Bountiful. A National Weather Service heat advisory for northern Utah was in effect through midnight Monday, July 27, with temperatures in the upper 90s and overnight lows in the lower 70s. The NWS advises limiting strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening, and residents without air conditioning can call 211 for shelter assistance.

In North Salt Lake, the splash pad at Legacy (Foxboro) Park, 1140 W. 1100 North, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

The Eccles Wildlife Education Center at 1157 S. Waterfowl Way in Farmington hosts a program Wednesday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to noon. The center sits adjacent to the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, home to more than 250 bird species.
