Lagoon will open the first launched single-rail coaster in the United States in July 2027, the Farmington amusement park announced Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The ride, built by Liechtenstein-based manufacturer Intamin, will stretch nearly 1,746 feet of track and hit a top speed of 40 mph with two separate launches, 13 airtime moments and three inversions. It marks Lagoon's first multi-launch coaster and its first collaboration with Intamin, as ABC4 first reported.

Riders will sit single-file directly above the rail in what Lagoon describes as a cockpit-like sensation. The narrow track profile allows for tighter turns and packs launches, airtime and inversions into a compact footprint, according to the park's press release. Each of the coaster's two trains holds 10 coaches. The 102-second ride delivers up to 8 seconds of total airtime, tops out at 50 feet and requires riders to be at least 4 feet tall.

Only three launched single-rail coasters exist worldwide, according to Coasterpedia: Big Dipper at Luna Park in Sydney, Mahuka at Walibi Rhône-Alpes in France and one under construction at Dream Island. All use Intamin's Hot Racer model. None are in the United States.

Lagoon first teased the ride in a Sept. 24 press release, calling it a "groundbreaking new ride" that would introduce an entirely new experience to the park. The coaster's name, theme and full layout remain under wraps. Lagoon said those details will be unveiled Saturday, Oct. 3.

The park's last new ride was the Nutcracker, a high-thrill pendulum ride by S&S Worldwide that debuted in 2026. Before that, Lagoon launched Primordial in 2023.

Lagoon draws up to 20,000 daily visitors to Farmington. Mayor Brett Anderson called the park "Farmington's single highest paying taxpayer" at an Aug. 18 City Council meeting, where council members discussed the park's demands on city services during a hearing on a proposed property tax increase.

The Oct. 3 reveal event is the next chance for details on what the finished coaster will look and feel like.
