Davis County families looking for a free summer outing have six days of barrel racing, dog contests, yard games, and a junior livestock auction waiting at the Agricultural Heritage Center in Kaysville.
Summer Fun Fest opened Monday, July 27, and runs through Saturday, August 1, at 788 S. 50 W. in Kaysville.
The festival is billed as Davis County's annual celebration of agriculture and community. Food trucks will be on-site throughout the week.
Day-by-day highlights:
- Monday, July 27 — Barrel race at 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 28 (Dog Days) — Dog agility and tricks demos from 1 to 5 p.m., pet adoption event from 1 to 3 p.m., Doxie Derby at 3 p.m., dog costume contest at 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 29 — Baby show at 3 p.m., yard games and equine crafts from 4 to 6 p.m., horse craft for kids ($3) from noon to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, July 30 — 4-H livestock judging at 8 a.m., dairy goat show at 10 a.m., pony rides ($5) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m., antique tractor show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., livestock costume contest at 4 p.m.
- Friday, July 31 — Hog showmanship at 9 a.m., beef showmanship at 1 p.m., team penning at 5 p.m.
- Saturday, August 1 — Buyers breakfast at 10 a.m., junior livestock auction at 11 a.m., open horse show all day.
The Saturday auction caps the week. 4-H youth exhibitors sell animals they've raised over the past year.
While most activities are free, a few carry small fees: pony rides cost $5, horse craft for kids runs $3, and photos with ponies range from $3 to $5. Proceeds go toward starting a riding program in Davis County, according to the USU Extension event page.
The Agricultural Heritage Center is about 10 miles north of Farmington and 15 to 20 miles from Bountiful, Woods Cross, and North Salt Lake.
