Davis Technical College is hosting an open house Wednesday, Nov. 4, for students and families interested in career and technical education.
The event runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m., according to an announcement from Bountiful Junior High. The school encouraged families to "go check out the opportunities at Davis Tech."
Six career areas will be featured: business and technology, construction and trades, health professions, manufacturing, cosmetology or culinary, and automotive. The college's website lists programs across those fields, including cybersecurity, practical nursing, welding and electrician apprenticeships.
What high school students should know
High school students who enroll at Davis Tech attend tuition-free, according to the college. They are expected to cover a $40 annual high school fee, program fees and materials. The college says families should contact the Financial Aid office about fee-waiver and scholarship eligibility.
Students can earn both high school and college credit at the same time. Many finish a certificate alongside their diploma, according to Davis Tech. Up to 30 credit hours may transfer to an associate or bachelor's degree program.
There is a financial incentive to start early. Students who begin a Davis Tech program before Feb. 1, 2027, are eligible for the High School Senior Scholarship, which provides funding to continue their program after graduation. Students who start after that date may still receive a scholarship but are not guaranteed full funding, according to the college's scholarship page.
Davis Tech President Darin Brush has emphasized expanding college access for high school students. In an October 2024 announcement, Brush said Davis Tech, Ogden-Weber Technical College and Weber State University announced a direct admissions initiative sending acceptance letters to high school seniors across their districts.
In the 2024-25 school year, Davis Tech awarded 510 scholarships totaling $463,199 from funds raised by the Davis Tech Foundation and its charitable donors.
The Bountiful Junior High announcement includes a registration link for the Nov. 4 open house.
