Pages Lane near I-15 in Bountiful will shut down for more than three months starting Thursday, Oct. 15, as crews work on the FrontRunner 2X rail expansion.
The closure runs through Monday, Jan. 25, 2027, Bountiful City announced on X on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Drivers who use Pages Lane to cross I-15 will need to detour to 400 North for the duration.
West Bountiful City warned that 400 North should see heavier traffic during peak travel times while the detour is in effect, according to the Bountiful Buzz. FrontRunner train service is expected to continue without interruption during the closure.
The shutdown is separate from a brief overnight closure of Pages Lane on Sept. 23–24 for minor utility work. That closure lasted just eight hours.
The FrontRunner 2X project
FrontRunner 2X is a major expansion of UTA's commuter rail line along the Wasatch Front. The project will add 26.1 miles of double track at 11 locations, a new station, 10 trainsets and a new maintenance facility, the Davis Journal reported in August. Once complete, it would allow 15-minute service during peak periods and 30-minute service the rest of the day.
The Federal Transit Administration approved FrontRunner 2X to enter the engineering phase of its Capital Investment Grants program in August 2026. The move brought the project closer to nearly $1.3 billion in federal funding. Full construction is anticipated from 2027 through 2030, pending completion of the federal grant process.
"For our riders, this project means shorter waits, more frequent trains, and a more dependable trip," UTA Executive Director Jay Fox said in August, when the engineering phase was announced, as ABC4 reported.
