Bountiful's annual Handcart Days celebration kicks off Friday, July 24, with a free evening concert by Grammy-nominated violinist Jenny Oaks Baker and wraps up Saturday, July 25, with fireworks over Mueller Park Junior High.

The two-day festival spans Bountiful City Park, Main Street, and the junior high campus, packing races, a parade, food vendors, and live entertainment into a single weekend.

Friday evening: food, games, and Jenny Oaks Baker

Bountiful City Park (400 N. 200 W.) opens at 5 p.m. Friday with food, drinks, and games running through 9 p.m., according to the Bountiful City events calendar. At 8 p.m., Jenny Oaks Baker & Family takes the stage for a free concert lasting about 90 minutes.

Baker, a Juilliard-trained former first violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra, performs roughly 65 concerts a year and has released nearly 20 studio albums. She performs alongside her children as "Family Four."

Saturday morning: three races before dawn

South Davis Recreation is hosting three races Saturday morning, Bountiful City announced on X on Monday, July 20:

  • Handcart Half — 5:30 a.m.
  • Frontier 5K — 6:30 a.m.
  • Pioneer Pete 1K — 7:30 a.m.

Registration is open at southdavisraces.com/handcart-days/. The races are part of Bountiful City's America250 "Red, White, and Move!" challenge, earning participants 20 points toward the 250-point goal.

Parade and park activities

The Handcart Days Parade steps off at 9 a.m. Saturday along Bountiful Main Street and runs until about 10:30 a.m. After the parade, Bountiful City Park reopens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities and demonstrations.

Fireworks finale

The night caps off with a fireworks show from 10 to 10:30 p.m. at Mueller Park Junior High. The city's 2026 fireworks ordinance explicitly exempts the Handcart Days display from private fireworks restrictions, citing prepositioned fire resources and a certified fireworks operator on site.
