Mortensen faces retention vote for Utah Appeals Court seat

Utah Appeals Court Judge David N. Mortensen will appear on the Nov. 3, 2026, general election ballot for a nonpartisan retention vote.

Davis County voters, including those in Bountiful, Farmington, Woods Cross and North Salt Lake, will see the question on their ballots.

Mortensen has served on the Utah Appeals Court since 2016, according to BallotReady profile data. Before joining the appeals court, he served as a trial judge on the Fourth District Court. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University, where he earned his juris doctor in 1993.
